DRIVEN BY ENGINEERING.

BUILT FOR COMPETITION.

UNIPG Racing Team is the Formula Student team of the University of Perugia. We design, manufacture, and compete with a fully student-built race car, combining engineering, teamwork, and innovation to perform at international competitions. Every project is driven by passion, data, and determination to redefine what’s possible on the track.

Every season is a new challenge — pushing our limits, refining our design, and competing against top teams across Europe.

Design Report

The team must prove to the judges that the design and production of the race car is up to par with the industry, showcasing detailed analyses and foundations for our technical designs

Cost Report

Make vs. buy decisions, cost and manufacturing analyses, as well as our environmental impact, must be showcased to further prove our strong theoretical basis

Business Plan Presentation

Simulating a Dragon’s Den/Shark Tank event, the team must create a fictitious business selling a mass-produced product involving the car, and provide corresponding analyses on market, financials, and business development and management

dynamic events

acceleration

The car has to speed up for 75 meters on a straight line of a flat surface. This event is divided in two heats that have to be driven by two drivers, each of them has two attempts. The score is given by the difference between the best time and the worst one.

skid pad

This event values the ability to turn of the car. The track looks like a 8 with two circle of 15.25 meters each and in the middle there is the starting and the finish line marked by 16 drivers on the external side and 16 on the internal one. Each car has to run a lap in the right circle to set the driving direction and then runs a second lap which is timing. After the second lap the car has to reach the left circle and runs two more laps and again the second one is timing. This event is divided in two heats that have to be driven by two drivers, each of them has two attempts

autocross

This is a pushing event which consists in running two laps to value the skills of the car. The circuit is tracked in order to get an average speed between 30 and 40 km/h with short straight lines, constant radius curves, hairpin turns, slaloms, chicanes, and variable radius curves. The score is given by the best lap on the two challenges driven by different drivers.

endurance

This is the final event of the week and it aims to value the whole racing performance of each car. The track is similar to the one used for the Autocross event. Each car has to drive 22 km and during the race teams can not touch the car but it is allowed a driver change (three minutes last) after 13 laps. The starting list is given by the Autocross’ score. The total timing of the Endurance is given by the sum of both drivers timing in addition to the possible penalties. The amount of points available for this event is 300 points.
